Bwiam’s Kurunulie Football Club got a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over the Scorpions of Bwiam to be crowned the champions of Lamin King Colley’s sponsored knockout tournament at the Bwiam Football Field at the weekend.

The well attended final that also produced some exciting moments of scintillating football in Foni Kansala, saw both teams miss numerous scoring opportunities in both halves.

The first chance in the game fell to Kurunulie’s Baba Badjie who failed to make the best use of what could have been the deciding moment of a rather interesting encounter much to the delight of the tournament’s organizer Lamin King Colley.

The Scorpions, who were the winners of the league title in Bwiam, occasionally went close to scoring but all their brilliant attacking options and dominance in the latter part of a thrilling football final were not good enough to earn them a happy moment.

As a result, Kurunulie became the champions thanks to a dramatic 5-4 success in a dramatic penalty shootout. They collected a giant trophy and a cash prize of D3,000.

The Scorpions were also awarded D2,000 for their outstanding performance that saw them finish as runners up.
