Koba Kunda Lower Basic School receives donation

The Christian Humanitarian Helpers Association for The Gambia on 13 December 2010 donated an assortment of educational items to Koba Kunda Lower Basic School in the Upper River Region.

The items donated included pencils, exercise books, buckets, blackboards, staplers, wheelbarrows, calculators, vegetable seeds, flip chats, flip chat stands, forks, bicycles, dusters, watering cans, tuners, and printers.

Speaking to our reporter in Basse, a member and coordinator of the association, Mr Anthony Blair, says their mission in The Gambia is to help in providing basic educational items to Gambian children.

According to him, among other achievements, they have created a relieving smile on the faces of lots of children in The Gambia.

He says further that his association is set up to complement government’s efforts in providing primary educational to Gambian children.

Siber Darboe, headmaster of Koba Kunda Lower Basic School, says: “The items [donated] are very valuable and useful to this school. They would help us immensely in teaching the children.”

Mr Darboe assured the donors that the items donated will be put into good use while thanking them for the gesture.

The occasion was attended by the deputy Governor of URR, M. S. Jallow, the head chief of Fuladu East, Hameh Krubally, the youth leader of the community, Foday Danjo, and members of the parent teachers association.
