The 2008-2009 Gambia Football Association Division One Female League Championship continued to produce some fascinating encounters among the participating teams as the competition entered its 2nd week of entertaining football at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.

Another thrilling encounter in the week 2nd fixture saw Kinteh United edge past Makasutu with a narrow 1-nil victory last Friday,

Captain Hella Dicko who played an instrumental part in Kinteh United's victory, scored her side's only goal of the game with a clinical finish.

Makasutu who suffered the heaviest defeat earlier in the week one fixture against Company Ten had better scoring opportunities than their opponents but could not make the best use of them.

Meanwhile Kinteh United who also conceded a 3-nil defeat in their opening game against interior Fc last Sunday almost pay the price for their poor defensive display midway through the second half allowing the opponent to dribble past two defenders but  the goalkeeper was there on time to make a superb save.

The defeat also confirmed Makasutu's second loss in a row and they would face an uphill task in trying to overcome their next opponent, Interior, who have a very good scoring record in the female league, when the two sides meet on Friday at the Seaview football field.

Kinteh United will lock horns with Abuko United on Saturday at the same venue.

Speaking to reporters shortly after a hard-fought encounter, the head coach of Victorious Kinteh United side, Oumie Marong-Ceesay, was so much delighted after collecting her first 3 points of the season following a disappointing start .

'I feel so excited for the outstanding performance of my team they really deserved the victory the elated coach told reporters.

She commended her opponents for putting up a respectable fight.

Meanwhile the only goal scorer in the game, Captain Hella Dicko, said she felt great to put her name on the score sheet while remained confident of scoring as many goals as possibly for Kinteh United as the league progresses.
