Lamin King Colley has once again been honoured with another leadership role after it was announced that he was unanimously re-elected as the Chairman of Western Region Sports Committee in the much-talked about congress held in Bwiam, Foni Kansala over the weekend.
Saturday marked another milestone in the history of sports in Western Region as part of the constitutional requirement that every four years, regional sports committee will meet congress delegate to submit their four-year activities and financial statement in order to constitute a new executive that would be tasked with the responsibility to run the affairs of sports in the regions for the next four years.
A total of twelve executive members, including seven new faces have been elected in various positions.
Lamin King Colley, who was elected unopposed is expected to lead the Western Region Sports Committee for another four-year tenure in office, while Lamin Camara who was the Chairman of Kombo North district and a native of Lamin village was elected as the 1st Vice-President of the (WRSC) with Pateh Bah of Foni Bondali to serve as the 2nd Vice-President of the Western Region Sports Committee, while Saikou Sanyang of Foni Bwiam was given the position of the 3rd Vice-President.
Abdou Karim Sey who was part of the previous executive members and Alasan Jarju, a former Chairman of Kombo East and Secretary General, respectively while Dawda Bojang of Penyem was elected as the Assistant Treasurer of the Western Region Sports Committee.
Other positions such as Auditor, PRO, Assistant PRO were occupied by the following people, such as Lamin Bojang, the Auditor, Borry Jarju PRO, Omar Badjie Assistant PRO and there were only two female members, namely Fansainey Gassama and Fatou Fadera who was also part of the previous executive members.
The joyous Chairman of WRSC, Lamin King Colley who's recently being elected as the Chairman of all the seven administrative regions was pleased to inform the attendance that the elected executive have made laudable achievements in promoting and developing sports in Western Region, such as the increased in number of Third Division teams from six to ten, including a registered GFA league by Foni.
The weekend congress was witnessed by scores of high dignitaries, such as the Western Region Governor, the Director of Youth and Sports, the Assistant Director of Sports, Pa Faye, among others.
