The prolonged theft case involving one Modou Manga, a former employee of Kanilai Group International, at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court has been adjourned again.

Modou Manga was first arraigned before former Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo on 14th May 2008 on a charge of stealing. He still maintains his innocence.

The case came up once more on 6th April 2009 before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh, but could not proceed due to a change of prosecutors. Cadet Inspector Mballow, who is now assigned to prosecute the case, said he needed time to familiarise himself with the case file, as he had just taken up the case.

As a result, the case was adjourned until 23rd April 2009.

The police charge sheet states that Modou Manga, between January and April 2008 stole 1,952 bags of rice of 30kgs equivalent to D585, 600, being the property of Kanilai Group International.

Mr Modou Manga is still in custody because he could not fulfil the bail bond of D600, 000.
