Magistrate
Patrick Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on 27 April 2015, convicted
and sentenced one Edrisa Colley to three months imprisonment without the option
of a fine and ordered him to pay D72,500 before the expiry of three months, in
default to serve one year in prison, both sentences to run consecutively.
This decision followed Edrisa Colley’s plea of guilt.
Prosecutors alleged that some time in the month of April 2015, at Kanilai Family Farms in Kotu in the Kanifing Municpality, Erdisa Colley stole from a motor vehicle items whose total value amounted to D75,000, the property of Kanilai Family Farms.
In his mitigation plea, Edrisa Colley told the court that he is a family man and has a wife with two kids, adding that he is also responsible for their welfare.
He asked the court to temper justice with mercy.
But Magistrate Gomez sentenced him accordingly.
Sub-inspector Bobb represented the IGP.
