Kanifing United and Marimoo FC were over the weekend crowned knockout champions of the Serrekunda West Sports Organisation and Manjai Youth Development Association respectively after beating their opponents in the finals.
Kanifing United emerged knockout champions of the Serrekunda West Sports Organisation after beating Black Pool FC by 5-3 on post-match penalty kicks after drawing 1-1 on regulation time in the re-scheduled final played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on Friday.
Lamin Touray gave Black Pool the lead in the 34th minute of the game from a brilliant shot but skipper Aziz Mendy levelled the score line for Kanifing United in the final minute of the first half from a free header, thus the game ended 1-1 resulting in post-match penalty shootout which ended 5-3 in favour of Kanifing United.
As winner, Kanifing United went home with a trophy and a cash prize of D30,000, whilst runners-up, Black Pool FC, collected a consolation prize of D15,000.
Marimoo FC emerged knockout champions of Manjai Youth Development Association after beating Darusalam FC by a goal to nil, thanks to Morlie Keita’s 63rd minute brilliant finish.
Marimoo FC went home with a trophy and a cash prize of D20,000 as winners, while Darusalam FC received a consolation prize of D15,000 as runners-up.
