Kerewan Area Council and VSO Youth Engagement and Participation Project Steering Committee and Working Group recently held a day planning and budgeting meeting for the next 3 months July to September 2014 and outlines series of activities to be implemented.
The chairman of Kerewan Area Council, Lamin Ceesay lauded the effort of VSO Youth Engagement and Participation Project Steering Committee and Working Group for their steadfastness and commitment in enhancing youth’s capacity on National Youth Policy and livelihood skill development.
He said VSO and Kerewan Area Council Youth Engagement and Participation Project would contribute to increase awareness level of youths on opportunity available in the region.
Chairman Ceesay assured of council’s support to youth development and empowerment.
Alasan Keita, Director of Planning and Development at Kerewan Area Council, said raising more awareness on youths would increase participation and bring about sustainable livelihood development of youths.
He thanked VSO for their foresight in partnering with Kerewan Area Council in promoting youth development and participation in the implementation of development projects at community levels.
Maja S. Pederson, VSO Volunteer on Youth Engagement and Participation Project thanked the youth groups in the project intervention areas for their support and understanding in the implementation of the project.
She thanked partners and Steering Committee for their relentless efforts in increasing more visibility and enhancement of youth groups and project on key issues of mutual interest.
Musa Jarra, Regional Youth Officer and Sheriffo Mboge, Regional Youth Chairperson, both hailed the effort of VSO and Kerewan Area Council in complementing the Department of Youth and Sport and National Youth Council in building youths capacity on national youth policy and economic opportunities.
