Kuntaur
Area Council (KAC) on Tuesday handed over a cheque of two hundred thousand
dalasis to Niani Sukuta Village Development Committee for the construction of a
health post.
Speaking
at the handing over ceremony, Chief Executive Officer Pa Nfansu Darboe said the
support is part of the council’s development plan of providing development to
the tax payers in the area.
He
said the project the council is about to implement will go a long way in
improving the health status of the most vulnerable in society and implored on
the members of the VDC to utilize the fund for it intended purpose. “Our role
as a council is to mobilize and utilize resources by providing social amenities
for the community we serve,” he stated.
Chairperson
of Kuntaur Area Council, Saikou Jawara spoke at length on the significant role
the council plays in providing development projects to the communities. He
further called on the people to pay their rates and taxes on time to enable
then council to implement development projects for their communities. “Late
payment of rates and taxes delay the development projects planned by the
council that are supposed to be implemented within that particular period,” he
echoed.
Receiving
the cheque on behalf of the community, VDC Chairman Kajali Sillah hailed Kuntaur
Area Council for complementing government efforts in providing health post to
the communities in the area. He said the
project is a highly needed one for the people in the area.
He
pointed out that the magnificent project will have a great impact on the lives
and livelihood of poor farmers, citing that it will also boost healthcare
delivery and accessibility in the area.
He assured them that the fund will be wisely utilized and every butut
will be accounted for.
