Juventus FC have booked their place in the knockout stage of the ongoing Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Nawetan following their 3-1 win over New Germany FC in the final group game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Yaya Bayo put New Germany FC ahead in the 49th minute of the game from a spectacular free-kick. Ansumana Kujabi came to the rescue of his side four minutes later from a sensible finish and later scored a stunning long range shot in the 73rd minute to register his name twice on the score sheet for Juventus FC.

Substitute Pa Gaye sealed the victory for Juventus FC in the 81st minute to ensure his side collected the maximum points.

Juventus FC have collected 7 points in 3 games to advance to the next stage of the competition, while New Germany FC have only collected a single point in 3 encounters.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Ebrima Gomez, head coach of Juventus, said his team did not perform well during the first half of the game but added that after talking to them during the break they adhered to instructions and it worked out for them.

He added that, coming to the game, they knew they were going to win, having prepared well for the encounter.

They will now prepare again well for the knockout stage, he said, adding that they are encouraging and making use of their young players to be able to win something this year.

He also said his side would deliver during the knockout stage. “They will try to play well and also score goals,” he said determinedly.

He concluded by thanking the fans, saying: “You cannot do without the fans.”
