Jolly Riders Donates Over 300 more Bicycles to Schools

The Jolly Riders, a charitable foundation in the UK yesterday give out over 300 bicycles and some books to three schools in the country. The beneficiaries are Kaur Upper Basic, Kaur Senior Secondary and Jimbara schools.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Gunjur the Coordinator Mr. Babucarr Boye Touray said the foundation was founded in 2005 to help Gambian schools by providing children with bicycles  and education materials.

He revealed that so far over 22 schools have benefited from the charity. He advised the beneficiary schools to put the bike into good use. He promised their resolve in helping more schools across the country with bicycles.

The chairman of the board of Trustees Mr. Barry Wright advised the parents the parents and school authorities to ensure that the bicycles are put into good use. He also encouraged the students to be mindful when riding to and from school.

Senior Education Officer from the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education described the donation as timely. He said that it will ease the mobility constrain of the students thus enabling them to reach school on time. He assured the Jolly Riders of his department's support while acknowledging the donation.

Mr.Harry Badige principal Kartong Basic Cycle school gave the vote of thanks.
