Over hundreds of Gambians and non-Gambians on Wednesday were at Banjul International Airport to give a warm welcome to Jermaine Jackson, his family and technical team, here to celebrate a concert organised for his late brother of Michael Jackson. The international concert is scheduled to be held on Saturday 29th May 2010 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Briefing journalists at the airport, Jermaine Jackson, a brother to the late Michael Jackson, thanked all those who were at the airport for welcoming the delegates. He said he has a surprise for the President, on the day of the concert.
The Jackson family and technicians arrived in The Gambia amidst a thunderous welcome.
Jeremaine Jackson said he was happy to be back. "The President invited me and we are here," he said. Jeremaine said he came with 57 persons including family members for the show on Saturday.
Hon. Fatou Mass Jobe-Njie Minister of Tourism and Culture welcomed the Jackson family. "The show is the first of its kind in The Gambia. We have put things together. Tickets are available, everything is set," she said.
"Tickets are available at all NAWEC, Africell, Gamcel and 3D Consulting at Fajara. Ticket prices range from D5000, D3000, D500, to D100. The proceeds will go to JFP, Women's Empowerment, and Agriculture etc," she said.
