Jarjue’s strike lifts Mons

Gambia’s captain Mustapha Jarju’s last weekend goal has helped to raise Belgium Pro-league side Mons up on the ladder.

Mustapha Jarju and Aloys Nong who were said to have made a good attacking partnership yielded results as Mons outclassed bottom side Cercle Bruges 3-1.

Jarju was on target in the 62nd minute and recorded his 9th of the season before substitute Cameroon’s Nong sealed the points with 10 to time from Mustapha Jarjue’s assistance.

Now sitting at 7th with a few more points to reach to attain a champion play-off spot Mons will play Genk on Saturday.

Ebrahima Ibou Sawaneh’s OH Leuven lost 4-0 to Standarded Leige to hang on 10th place on the table.

The Gambian international is still in contention for the league’s highest scores after banging 17 goals making him sitting on joined second on the list with Mbokani of fellow club side Anderlecht.

Bacca of Club Brugge are leading the table of scorers with 20 goals.
