Jamisa Community Association Women's club were crowned champions of Kombo Central Inter-community Association Women's Football Tournament after beating Kabafita Community Association Women's team 3-2 in the weekend’s final played at the Brikama Box Bar mini-Stadium.
The tournament was sponsored by the Saamasang Youth and Children Development Association of Kombo Central.
The keenly contested match, characterised by spectacular display of skills and talents, attracted large crowd from Brikama and its satellite villages.
Jamisa opened the scoring through striker Ajie Jallow in the 16th minute after getting a pass through Kabafita's defence line but Mbassey Darboe, alias Messi, levelled the score for Kabafita in the 54th minute from a brilliant strike.
Serreh Jammeh scored a brace in the 75th and 87th minutes to seal the victory for Jamisa in a spectacular fashion before Aja Kanuteh scored a consolation for Kabafita in the 65th minute.
As champions, Jamisa went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D5,000, whilst Kabafita received D3,000 as the runners-up.
Bafuloto received D1,000 after they were named the most disciplined team of the tournament.
Serreh Jammeh, who became the tournament’s leading scorer with nine goals to her name, walked away with a cash prize of D250. Fatoumatta Jammeh, named the best player of the tournament, received D250 and mosquito net as consolation prize.
