Ousman Njie, an IT consultant, Monday testified in the case of assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault involving Fatoumatta Fatajo and Haddijatou Sam at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Tabally.

Mr Njie told the court he recognised the accused persons and on 23 October 2012, he was at his Internet Café when the first prosecution witness (PW1), Isatou Dibba, came and laid a complaint that his sister, the 1st accused, had been using abusive words on her.

He told the court that he shared the same mother with the 1st accused and he went to the house to ask her what transpired between the two of them, adding that the 1st accused denied having any problem with PW1.

Mr Njie said he decided to beat the 1st accused in order to put a stop to the problem.

He said he later received a call from the police to go to the station, where a statement was obtained from him.

Hearing continues on 7 January 2013.
