InSIST GLOBAL, a Gambian owned software engineering firm, on 14 December 2011 held their 1st annual IT seminar at the Cocoa Ocean Resort & Spa on the theme “Powering your business in the cloud”.
In his opening remarks on the occasion, Almamy Taal, Chief Executive Officer of Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), who facilitated the seminar, said he is glad to be part of something promising such as what InSIST is doing.
“One must be the change you see in this world,” he said, adding: “If you can change the world through the use of technology, ideas and so on that will be great and that the GCCI is proud to partner with a company as interesting as InSIST GLOBAL.”
In his speech on the occasion, Gabriel Latjor Ndow, vice chairman of Internet Society The Gambia chapter (ISOC), said the ISOC is a non-profitable organization found in 1992 to provide leadership in internet-related standard education and policy.
“It is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution and the use of the internet for the benefit of people throughout the world,” Mr Ndow noted, saying their focus is on development, maintenance, evolution, and dissemination of standards for the internet and its internetworking technologies and applications.
In his presentation, Seedy Omar Bensouda, CEO of InSIST GLOBAL, discussed the new and emerging technology called the Cloud Computing and how it is the future of ICT.
He said InSIST GLOBAL is participating in building local industry to provide “Gambiacentric solutions”.
Mr Bensouda also talked about the benefits of information systems technology/ICT and how investment in such technologies could really benefit and help business, especially “during this difficult economic climate”.
