Sub-Inspector Fadera on the 18th December 2008 called his witness, Lamin Saidy, a waiter to testify against one Amadou Kojo Sowe, who was earlier brought before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court for attempting to sell 24.006Kg of gold dust, knowing that the same gold dust was fake.

In his testimony, the witness told the court that he was a waiter and lived at Bijilo. He stated that one of his brothers called Muhammed Drammeh came from America on holidays.

He adduced that his brother, during his stay in The Gambia, brought 10kg of gold dust from someone in The Gambia. He indicated that on his brother's return to America, he phoned him and told him that of the 10kg of gold dust he bought in The Gambia, 5kg was good and the other 5kg proved to be fake gold. He revealed that his brother told him that there was a person in The Gambia called Amadou Sowe who kept phoning him and told him that he had some gold dust for sale. He narrated that his brother told him that he did not know the person phoning him.

He said his brother further told him that the person who sold him the said gold dust must have been the one who gave his telephone number to the caller so that the same could dupe him also.

He stated that his brother gave the police the telephone number of the accused and that when the police officer got the accused's telephone number, he then used the number to contact the accused and told him to meet at Safideen where the accused was arrested by the police officer.

The case was adjourned to a later date.
