Principal Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently cautioned and discharged one Ebrima Dikoe, charged with impersonation.

According to the particulars of offence, on 27 February 2011, at the Banjul International Airport, the accused, Ebrima Dikoe, presented to the profiling officers of the Spanish airline a Gambian passport No: Pc 052969 containing a Spanish residential permit E 12208337 and bearing the name of one Bakaw Dikoe.

However, the prosecutor, 1st Class Ceesay, adopted the particulars of the offence as the facts of the case, which the accused admitted as true and correct.

The accused, in his plea of mitigation, begged the court for forgiveness.

The trial magistrate subsequently cautioned and discharged the accused, but warned him not to go around the airport and also ordered the accused person's parents to watch him not to leave the country for the next 5 years.

He also ordered that the passport be forfeited to the state.
