The Gambia Immigration Department are crowned as the winners of the seven edition of the National Inter- Department Sports Association (NISA) championship. The winners defeated their opponents the National Drug Enforcement Agency by 3-1.
The highly-hype match held at the Independence Stadium last Saturday was graced by high-profile dignitaries and sporting gurus.
The final also witnessed the opening of the third edition of the female football tournament between Gamtel and Immigration, in which Immigration won by 2-0, while the other games would continue for the female competition.
At the end of the finals Immigration Department were awarded a trophy and a cheque for D12, 000 as winners, whilst the runners-up the National Drug Enforcement Agency also received a trophy and a cheque for D8, 000. The third place was secured by the Gambia Armed Forces who defeated Gambia Civil Aviation team by 2-0. They were also awarded a trophy and a cheque for D6, 000. Ebrima Sarr of the Kanifing Municipality Council team was the leading goal soccer, who went home with a cheque for D1, 000. Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, the Head Coach of joyous Immigration side, Chief Inspector Kebba Touray hailed his boys for what he described as a "tremendous job done".
He further commended his opponent for putting up a respectable performance in the final.
