IGP Badjie, 5 army officers dismissed

President Yahya Jammeh has dismissed the Inspector General of Police, Ensa Badjie, and the head of the Gambia Navy Rear Admiral Sarjo Fofana with effect from Tuesday 2 March 2010.

According to GRTS monitored last evening, the Office of the President also announced the dismissal of the following officers from the Gambia Armed Forces: 

Col. Mamatar Secka Commander Military Police, Major Kuluteh Manneh Army Headquarters, Lt. Famara Jassey Army Headquarters and Lt. Col. Abdoulie Jatta Gambia National Guard.

President Jammeh also made the following appointments in the Gambia Armed Forces and the Gambia Police Force, with immediate effect:

Yankuba Sonko as Acting IGP, Commodore Sillah Kujabi as Acting Navy Commander, Lt. Col. Kawsu Sanyang as Commandant of Gambia Armed Forces Training School, Commissioner Famara Jallow reinstated and appointed as deputy Inspector General of Police.
