IEC to hold by-election for half-die ward

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will conduct a by-election on 1 October 2015, to fill the vacant post of Councillor for the Half-Die ward.

This is following the notification by the Banjul City Council of the demise of the erstwhile Councillor of Half-Die, Alhagie Momodou A.M. Njie, a press release by the IEC stated.

The by-election is conducted in accordance with Section 23 of the Local Government Act 2002, with respect to Section 19(a) of the same Act.
