The
Independent Electoral Commission will conduct by-elections to fill six vacant
seats in three Area Councils on Wednesday 24 May 2017, a press release by the
IEC stated.
The
wards are Old Jeshwang and Tallinding Wards in the Kanifing Municipal Council,
Bantanjang Somita and Sukuta Wards in the Brikama Area Council and Galleh Ward
in the Jangjanbureh Area Council.
“This
is necessitated by the resignation of the erstwhile councillors of the
aforementioned wards who resigned to enable them contest in the National
Assembly Elections,” the release added.
