The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) is vigorously putting things in place for the Janjanbureh Constituency by-election to be held on Thursday 12 March 2015.
In preparation for the election, the IEC has announced that it will start issuing free nomination forms for prospective candidates for the election.
A press release signed to that effect by IEC Chairman Alhajie Mustapha L. Carayol, states: “In accordance with Section 91 subsection 3 of the 1997 Constitution of The Republic of The Gambia, the Independent Electoral Commission will conduct a National Assembly By-election for the Janjanbureh Constituency in the Central River Region on Thursday 12 March 2015.
“In view of the aforementioned, Nomination forms will be issued out to prospective candidates from Monday 2 to Thursday 26 February 2015. These forms are free of charge and can be collected from the Election House at Bertil Harding Highway or the IEC’s Regional Office in Janjanbureh.”
