According to a press release sent yesterday to this paper by IEC, the APRC party fielded in Mr Karamo Touray to contest in the said election and Mr Lamin Fatty was duly nominated as an Independent candidate.
“Consequent to this, and in accordance with Section 53 (2) (a) of the Elections Act (2009), theIndependent Electoral Commission will conduct a Local Government By-Election to fill the vacant seat of a Councillor for Sare Ngai Ward in the Basse Area Council, on Thursday 28April 2016,” the release signed by IEC Chairman Alieu Momar Njai stated.
