Dado Secka, a 16-year-old girl is badly in need of assistance to undergo overseas medical treatment.
According to a medical report from the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, signed by Dr. Carlos Paneque Acosta, the Consultant Internal Medicine, the patient (Dado Secka) came to the hospital complaining of shortness of breath when she lies down on bed and can't sleep well since 5 months ago.
On examination, the report stated that her mucuos is pink and wet.
"There are crackles in both lungs base, dnoseig rith on consultation on mitral valve focus, grade IV/IV with thrill and mitral systolic murmur," the report added.
The report further stated that there is congestive hepatomegaly with hepato jugular reflex of about 4cm in her abdomen, while her STC Pedal oedema (+++) is hard on touch and her EKG is mitral valves.
In her chest x-ray, the report went on, the global cardiomegaly is with sings of pulmonary odema (congestion).
"In the Echocardiagraphy, there was no septal defect and the anterior mitral leaflet in fibrotic left atrium is enlarged (37mm)," the report noted.
Ms Adama Ceesay, a cousin to Dado who walked into our office yesterday appealed to the public for support. She said Dado's brother Alagie Mot Secka has a similar condition, but due to the lack of support, he eventually passed away.
She added that although Dado was diagnosed, her treatment cannot be done in the country and her poor family cannot support her either.
"Right now, we don't even know which hospital to go to and we have no money either to pay for her bills," she said. She appealed to President Jammeh, organisations, individual philanthropists and any other person who may wish to help by any means.
