Gambia international Pa Dembo Touray plying his trade in the Swedish top flight with Djurgaden football club, has re-iterated his desire to return to international football.
The big goalie who had been sidelined since The Gambia's 2-Nil home defeat from the Sylli nationals of Guinea a few years ago, revealed to West Coast Radio famous sport talk of his ardent desire to be back with the Scorpions if he is invited any time.
The player who declined to comment on his absence from the national team is on holiday after the Swedish league took its season break. Pa Dembo, alongside his compatriots Jatto Ceesay and Seyfo Soley, have not featured for the Gambia for quite a while now. His absence from the national team goes back to the Scorpions' return leg to Conakry which they bravely fought to a 2-All draw during the 2008 African Nations cup qualifiers.
He lauded the performance of the Scorpions in the last qualifiers and recent Gambia's FIFA ranking which saw them at 65 position in the world, 3 places better than arch rivals Senegal. He also revealed that three other Gambian players, among them Kebba Ceesay a teammate in the Swedish league, are also aspiring to feature for The Gambia. He said the Scorpions could strengthen its squad if they are called to wear the national colours.
