The Gambia
Tourism Board (GTBoard) has called on all proprietors and businesses operating
within the Tourism Development Area (TDA) such as hotels, restaurants, and
night clubs to regularise their operating licences.
The GTBoard said the continued operation of these businesses without payment for such license is in convention of the GTBoard Act, 2011.
The Act prohibits anybody to operate a hotel, restaurant, night club, or casino except with a license issued by the GTBoard.
Anybody who failed to regularise their operational licences with the GTBoard shall be prosecuted, and is liable on conviction to a fine not more than D50, 000, the board said.
The tourism industry regulator said henceforth no business will be allowed to operate in the TDA without an operational licence issued in 2014.
