Superior
courts throughout the country reopened for business yesterday, 9 January 2017,
after they proceeded on a three-week vacation.
It
would be recalled that the superior courts (the Cadi Appeals Court, the High
Courts, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court) closed for business on 22
December 2016, for the third term of the 2016 legal year.
The
Christmas vacation commenced on Friday 23 December 2016 and, as a result, some
of the judges travelled out of the jurisdiction for the Christmas holiday.
When
this reporter visited the Judiciary complex at the Independence Drive in
Banjul, some courtrooms were opened, while some were closed.
Meanwhile,
Justice Oleidi Uduma, Justice Kumba Sillah-Camara, Justice O. Ottaba, Justice
Amina Saho-Ceesay and Justice Edrissa Mbai reported for work.
