Halimatou Jallow crowned winner of NBR Beauty Pageant Competition

The regional education directorate of North Bank Region recently organised the 7th edition of Miss 22nd July Scholarship and Beauty Pageant for Senior Secondary Schools.

The theme of the pageant was “Educating and empowering girls for a prosperous Gambia – striving for food self-sufficiency for sustainable development”.

Speaking on the occasion, Paul K. Mendy, Principal Education Officer 1, and who doubles as officer overseeing education office, thanked school principals and parents for their support towards the realization of a successful competition.

He hailed the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and National Organizing Committee for the foresight, saying the event contributes to providing platform for contestants to showcase their talent and education.

He called on regional contestants to be steadfast to raise the regional, flag high.

Maimuna Sallah a representative of National Organizing Committee, thanked the regional organizing committee for the initiative of decentralizing the preliminary competitions in Kerewan, Farafenni and Essau, noting that it reflected a fair representation of schools.

Halimatou Jallow of Essau Senior Secondary School was crowned as winner of the 2015 regional July 22nd Scholarship and beauty pageant.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the entire contestant for their hard work and commitment.

Mod Talla Ceesay, Senior Education Officer, delivered the vote of thanks and reiterated office’s commitment to the attainment of quality education.

The competition was attended by 19 schools within the region.
