Hajj 2009

Nov 4, 2009, 3:00 PM

As we witness the beginning of the 2009 Hajj operations, we pray for all intending pilgrims a successful Hajj.

We also encourage them as advised by Sheikh Sidia Ceesay to pray for themselves, their sponsors and the country as a whole while in the Holy Land.

Hajj is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, and as a piece of advice we encourage all would-be pilgrims to take it very seriously.

As pilgrims you must always put at the back of your minds that your mission in the Holy City is to seek the blessings of Allah and nothing else.

Be supportive to each other throughout your stay in Mecca.

After all, you are all Gambians and Muslims going for the same mission.

We encourage the young ones, in particular to be supportive to the elderly both in Mecca and Medina.

It's our fervent hope that you will constantly call the name of Allahu Subahanahu Watala throughout your journey.

Our appeal goes to families back home to avoid over spending during their welcoming ceremonies.

To the Gambia International Airline GIA, the National Hajj Commission and all other relevant stakeholder, we urge you to work very hard to ensure a problem-free Hajj for our pilgrims.

Timely departure to and from Saudi is very important and we encourage you to avoid unnecessary flight delays. These will no doubt give our pilgrims the opportunity to perform all the components of the Hajj.

We wish you all a safe journey and a successful Hajj.

Meanwhile, our commendation goes to all those individuals and institutions, who have sponsored one or more people to perform this fundamental religious obligation.

We pray that God the Almighty Allah reward you accordingly and encourage others to emulate you.

It's worth noting that there is no better investment than spending in the cause of Allah.
