One Hajie Simaha was on 2 June 2015 paraded before Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and charged with two counts of burglary and stealing.

He denied any wrongdoing.

Prosecutors alleged that the accused, Hajie Simaha, on 5 May 2015 between the hours of 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. at Pipeline in the Kanifing Municipality, broke and entered the dwelling house of one Ebrima Ceesay with intent to steal.

Hajie Simaha was alleged to have stolen one Samsung flat TV screen valued at D32,000, a DVD player valued at D3,500 and a satellite receiver valued at D1,500, totaling D37,000, the property of Ebrima Ceesay.

Police prosecutor 2717 Jallow opposed bail, and told the court that the accused is facing a similar offense in another court where he was granted bail.

He said if he was granted bail in the new case, he would commit another offense.

He added that the investigation was still ongoing because the items stolen are yet to be recovered.

He urged the court to remand him, pending the outcome of the case.

The court subsequently remanded him until 10 June 2015, for hearing. [endif][if gte mso 9] [endif][if gte mso 10] [endif]
