The 2013-2014 Gunjur Nawettan season curtain raiser, the Super Cup, is billed for the day after Koriteh, at the town’s biggest football arena, the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field, at 4.30pm.

Described by many football fans in Gunjur and its satellite areas as a crunch clash, the much-awaited Super Cup final will feature two household names in Gunjur football - reigning league champions Nyokoyorr FC and knockout champions Nyokoyorr FC.

World Eleven clinched the league title after beating Oxford United FC 1-0 in a final courtesy of Bubacarr Janneh’s goal in the 14th minute of the game from an Ousman Njie free-kick, which eventually proved to be the winner for World Eleven as well as earned them their first-ever silverware in Gunjur Nawettan since making their debut in the nawettan in 2010.

Nyokoyorr FC claimed the knockout title following their hard-fought 1-0 win over Kulukochi United FC in the final; Sheriff Touray was on target for Nyokoyorr in the dying minutes of the game.

The draw for the 2013-2014 Gunjur Nawettan was held on Sunday 4 August 2013 at the Gunjur Day Care Centre, with sixteen teams divided into four groups vying for the championship.

Group A consists of Commit FC, Nyokoyorr FC, Kayounlon FC and the Late Dembo FC; group B comprises reigning league champions World Eleven FC, QCell FC and Alex Sanchaba FC; group C is made up of Steve Biko FC, NAS FC Sebindinto FC and Kajabang FC, and group D has Gamcel FC, Solifo Investment FC, Sunderland FC and Dabani Electrical Enterprise Limited FC.

The ball will start to roll with Steve Biko clashing with NAS FC in the opening game of the nawettan on Saturday 10 August 2013, and Sunday 11 August will pit Gamcel FC with Sunderland FC.
