Gunjur
zonal team are set to embark on massive trophy tour to all villages in Kombo
South on Saturday 5 November 2016, after clinching the 2016 FiBank-sponsored
Super Nawettan title.
Gunjur
came from one nil down to beat Banjul 2-1 in a well-attended final game played
at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday to claim their first-ever Super
Nawettan crown.
Midfielder
Salifu Bojang alias Bapa and striker Malang Jassey alias Uncle were on target
for Gunjur in the 36th and 77th minutes of the game after right-back Essa
Jallow gave Banjul the lead in the 18th minute of the game from a penalty spot
after Gunjur defender Yususpha Touray alias Eso brought down winger Assan Gaye
inside the eighteen to put city boys in front.
During
the tour Gunjur Sports Committee and players are expected to present the trophy
to the villages in Kombo South for their support to the team during the
tournament and also strengthen cordial relationship with the villages in the
district.
