The
2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation
domestic division one league champions Gambia Ports Authority are set to host
AS Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first-leg tie of the
second round of the 2017 CAF Champions league on Sunday 12 March 2017, at the
Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4pm.
The
Gambia champions beat Ivorian side Sewe Sport 1-0 on aggregate in the first
round clash to advance to the second round first leg clash with the Congolese
side in Banjul this weekend before the second leg in Kinshasa, a week later
after the first leg in Banjul.
Gambia Ports Authority lost to bottom-place
Bombada 3-2 in the country’s domestic division one league at last Sunday prior
to CAF Champions league at the weekend, which dashed their hopes of retaining
their 2015-2016 domestic division one league.
The
ferry boys will stretch their muscle free to beat AS Vita Club massively to
fancy their chances of reaching the third round as well as the group stage.
As
Vita Club thrashed Royal Leopard 3-1 on aggregate in the first round to
progress to the second round first leg clash with Gambia Ports Authority this
weekend in Banjul.
The
Congolese side are exploiting well in the premier league, and will be ruthless
to thump Gambia Ports Authority in the first leg in Banjul, before the second
leg in Kinshasa, a week later after the first leg in Banjul.
