The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) yesterday presented office furniture to the Gambia Immigration Department at a brief ceremony held in Banjul.
The items donated included six visitors chairs, one executive desk and an office chair.
Speaking to journalists shortly regarding the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Immigration Department, ASP Ba Ensa Jawara, said the gesture was not the first of its kind from the GPA to the Immigration Department.
“The Gambia Ports Authority are very helpful to the immigration department either in cash or kind; therefore we are urging all other government institutions to emulate the GPA by rendering similar assistance to the Immigration Department,” he said, adding: “Without the security in the country there will be no meaningfully development.
“Maintaining and promoting security in the country is everybody’s business; therefore in helping the security you are helping the whole nation.’’
He added that the chairs donated would go a long way in helping the people who come to immigration for their document transactions.
The Immigration spokesperson profoundly thanked the GPA for the donation.
