Govt. seeks more funds for Soma-Mandinaba road project

The Government of the Gambia Tuesday signed a loan agreement for the financing of the Soma-Mandinaba road project to the tune of Dhs 36, 730, 000 (Thirty Six Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty Thousand) Emirates Dirhams with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development of the United Arab Emirates.

A press release from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs said the Gambian delegation was received by Mohammed Said Al Suwaidi, acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

“Having reviewed the existing cordial relationship between the Government of The Gambia and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Mambury Njie, expressed satisfaction and appreciation to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development on behalf of His Excellency President Yahya A.J.J Jammeh,” the release added.

The release further stated that the minister of Finance and Economic Affairs was accompanied by Hon. Momodou Tangara, minister of Foreign Affairs, Momodou S. Njie, Charge d’ Affaires, Gambia Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and Momodou O. Njie, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy, who signed on behalf of the Gambia government.

The release noted that the Finance and Economic Affairs Minister took the opportunity to thank the government and people of the United Arab Emirates for their continued support and interest in the development of The Gambia.
