Golf Association stage first pros weekly golf competition

The first weekly Pros Golf Competition organised and sponsored by the Gambia Golf Association (GGA), last Tuesday 9th February 2010, ended at the Fajara Golf Course, featuring 4 Professional golfers with 1 Amateur.

Fakebba Drammeh, alias Tiger Wood emerged the winner with 44 points after scoring 1 eagle, 2 birdies, 2 bogies and 7 pars. Pa Famara J. J. Jatta widely known as J. J. Jatta took second with 46 points, while Gibou Jallow occupied third with 48 points scoring 1 double bogie, 1 birdie and 2 bogies.

Fakebba Drammeh, the winner of the competition received a cash prize of D500.

Speaking to the President of the Gambia Golf Association, Ebrima Jawara, shortly after the competition, he said the aim of the competition is to keep alive the profession, noting that sometimes professionals play in the weekly competitions at the Fajara Golf Club without winning prizes.

He revealed that they are working on how to get sponsors for the competition, and hoped to see more Professional and Amateurs in next week's competition.
