The second prosecution witness (PW2), Pateh Njie, recently testified in the trial of one Muhammed Jallow, accused of obtaining money by false pretence, before Magistrate Mbye of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Njie told the court that he is a gold and silversmith, and recognised the accused person.

He also knows one Seedy Jamanka, and could recall what happened in April 2015.

He said the first prosecution witness and a man came to his workshop to test 10 grams of gold, and wanted somebody to test the said gold for them.

They told him to test the gold, and he told them to pay before the test.

They paid, and he tested it and discovered that it was 22 grams of gold; however, after weighing it had 10 grams.

They told him they would go to a Whiteman called Rico to test it for them again.

Njie added that he was later called by the police to give his statement.

The case was adjourned to 11 August 2015.
