The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) was recently presented with a FC Barcelona Jersey autographed by star player Lionel Messi.
The jersey was presented to the President of Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Momodou Dibba by FUNDACIO FC BARCELONA envoy Oriol, who was in The Gambia recently to supervise the regional FutBolnet tournament organised by Olympafrica Centre of Serekunda East under the GNOC.
The jersey labeled “Gambia” was autographed by Messi and specifically parked for GNOC.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Serekunda East Mini Stadium, GNOC president thanked the FUNDACIO FC Barcelona for the honour and their foresight in backing FutBolNet initiative across the World.
The GNOC boss revealed that the jersey will be exposed at the GNOC Museum, expressing hope that the gesture will inspire many young Gambian footballers.
For his part, Mr Oriol from FUNDACIO FC BARCELONA commended GNOC leadership for their stand in sports development in The Gambia and beyond.
He said the success of the regional FutBolNet tournament in The Gambia is the perfect example.
Present at the presentation was Abdul Shyllon, a member of GNOC Bureau and other officials.
