Global Hands holds reproductive health training workshop

Global Hands Gambia on Friday held a daylong training workshop for high school students, youths, representatives of civil society organisations and media practitioners on reproductive health.

Held at the Gambia Family Planning Association Complex, the training workshop was geared towards bringing to light some of the pressing reproductive health issues facing young people.

The chairperson of Global Hands Gambia, Jimmy Hendry Nzally, said the training workshop sought to address complications related to reproductive health and related issues facing the society.

He called the young people to take up the challenges facing them.“As young people, we should not sit and wait all the time, but rather take action,” he said.

Mariama Dibba, one of the resource persons, in her presentation highlighted many health issues barely known or discussed in society.

In other to further disseminate the knowledge gained from the daylong forum, the participants are expected to organise a step-down training activityto be supervised by the Global Hands Gambia health officer, Isatou Bah.

Global Hands Gambia is an affiliate of Global Hands International based in the United Kingdom.It is a nonprofit organisation set up in March 2013 as a chapter in The Gambia.

One of its main purposes is to raise local-global issues as well as support communities, especially young people, to address local-global concerns.

Since establishment, the local organisation has been engaged in many development interventions, including education, research, entrepreneurship and health.
