Gintos Football Academy FC have made a flying start to the Gambia Football Association (GFA) triangular third division qualifiers following their hard fought 1-0 win over West Coast Region side Nema United FC in the opening game at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on Monday.
Relegated to the third division after their dismal performance last season, Nema United FC came into the game with the objectives of bagging the maximum points to keep their hopes of returning to the second division.
Ginto Football Academy FC, on the other hand, also came into the game with the intention of snatching a victory in order to stand a better chance of gaining promotion to the country’s second tier football club competition.
Gintos Football Academy FC striker Bakary Joof netted the opener in the 17th minute of the game to give the academy boys the winner.
Elsewhere, champions of Banjul Tobacco Road United FC came twice from behind to draw 2-2 with West Coast Region champions Gunjur United FC in the other triangular third division qualifiers game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium on the same day.
