The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) recently briefed the press ahead of the scheduled fund-raising activity to be held on 30 October 2015, at the Paradise Suites Hotel’s Penchami Hall.
The briefing was held at its headquarters in Banjul.
The briefing session, according to the GFRS officials, was meant to acquaint the public on the upcoming fund-raising activity they would be organizing, to help generate funds to improve some of the services they offer to the public, particularly in the GFRS healthcare unit.
The GFRS public relations officer, Muhammed Drammeh, informed media personnel that they are putting trust on the media to help amplify their programmes to reach the public, for them to come and participate in the fund raising programme.
According to PRO Drammeh, the fund-raising show is geared towards the building of two paramedic clinics at Brikama and Basse.
“We are already operating five clinics in Banjul, Bansang, Jara Soma, Churchill’s Town and Farafeni. We offer free services to patients,” he said, adding that it is the same they wanted to extend to the people of Brikama and Basse, to reduce the work load on the major health centres.
He appealed to NGOs, the private sector and parastatals to partner with them to achieve their goals.
“Help your local fire fighters, because the life they save may be your own,” he declared.
