Brikama United have bounced back to their winning form in the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) division one league, following their 1-0 win over newly-promoted side Banjul United, in the week-nine fixtures played at the Brikama Box Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Brikama United lost to Real De Banjul 3-0 and 3-2 to reigning league champions Steve Biko in their previous fixtures, knowing that a defeat to Banjul United will dash their hopes of clinching the league title.
They dominated Banjul United in all departments in the field of play and created numerous goal-scoring chances.
Samger beat Real De Banjul 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, whilst Wallidan drew 2-2 with relegation-threatened Gambia Ports Authority, in the other week-nine fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
In the other week nine scores, reigning league champions Steve Biko beat Bakau United 1-0 in an all-Bakau derby game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Armed Forces beat Hawks on the same score-line at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
Real De Banjul and Brikama United are in 1st and 2nd places on the league table with 16 points in nine games.
Wallidan are in 3rd place with 15 points in nine games and Hawks are in 4th place with 12 points in nine games.
Newly-promoted side Banjul, Samger and reigning league champions Steve Biko are in 5th, 6th and 7th places respectively with 11 points each, but Steve Biko and Banjul United have more games than Samger.
Armed Forces are in 8th position with 10 points in nine games; Bakau United and Interior are in 9th and 10th places respectively with 9 points each in nine games.
Gamtel are occupying 2nd place from bottom with 8 points in seven games, but with two games in hand against Samger and Interior, while Gambia Ports Authority are rooted at the bottom of the league table with only 5 points in nine games.
