Week three of the Gambia Football Association GFA second division matches have all been cancelled, because of lack of security at the matches.
According the coaches, they were never told there will be no security at the matches, until they arrived at the grounds and were told by the referees that “if there are no securities they will not officiate matches”.
This is in line with the match between Biko and Brikama United, which took place at the Independence Stadium leading to the suspension of a senior referee for the rest of the leagues.
According to the referees, this reporter found on the ground in Manjai, they also don’t want to fall in the situation where their colleague Ansu Jatta has found himself.
Speaking to this reporter, some of the coaches said the GFA Normalization Committee should inform the teams before they cancel the matches at least a week before or write to them notifying them before they incur a lot of expenses in camping their players, hiring vehicles to the matches and taking care of other logistics.
“It is incorrect to act without informing the other part you are dealing with,” they say.
