The Gambia Football Association (GFA) recognizes Nawettan zones and on Wednesday elected an en executive body to run the affairs of the 12 Nawettan zones under its purview.
The desire to run their own affairs and organize the famous Super Nawettan championship, independent of the GFA, has long been a corner stone demand of the Zones now expended to include Brufut in the Kombo North.
At a rather hurriedly arranged meeting at the Serrekunda West Park, the zonal representatives elected Lamin Camara of Lamin as Chairman, Bakary Pap Dampha of Bakau as vice.
Bubacarr Star Janneh of Gunjur, treasurer: Ebou Faye of Banjul, Head of Marketing; Ba S. Jabbie of Brufut, vice marketing head, Bai Omar Touray of Serrekunda Central among others who shall constitute the organizing committee of the Super Nawettan.
It was also agreed that two members from each Zone would be co-opted to help in the running of the Super Nawettan, expected to kick off in December.
