Executive
members of Gambia Chess Federation (GCF) have recently concluded a fact-finding
and consultative regional tour with its stakeholders. The tour availed the
Chess leadership the opportunity to gather firsthand information on regional
chess structures, challenges and level of awareness of the game at the regions.
President
Amadou Jallow led the tour party with 1st and 2nd vice presidents, Habib Mboob
and Sasuna Mbye respectively.
Second
vice president Sasuna Mbye said the tour was a success, as it has enabled the
federation to hear from stakeholders on matters concerning Chess development in
the regions. “We had fruitful discussions with them on pertinent issues on the
development of the game, and has further helped us to know the areas to
prioritise in our next year program of activities,” he added.
He
said the outreach program was significant as the federation is focused on
empowering and propagating the game of chess across the country. “We are
planning to organise another competition before the end of the year, so as to
round up our 2019 activities.”
