As
part of efforts to fight covid-19 pandemic, Gambia Competition and Consumer
Protection Commission (GCCPC) has recently donated sanitizers and other
sanitary materials to Banjul City Council for distribution at the Albert
Market.
Speaking
at the handing over ceremony, Amadou Ceesay, GCCPC chief executive officer said
they started their contribution in the fight against the pandemic at Albert
Market because it is one of the busiest markets in the country.
Rohey
Malick Low, mayoress of Banjul thanked GCCPC and the Senegalo-Gambia Women
Association for their support, calling for more support for the capital city.
Maimuna
Bojang, director for Legal and Enforcement at BCC commended the donors and
encouraged people to maintain regular hand washing with soap and water. “We
will also be going to other markets and public places to sensitise people.”
