The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is preparing for yet another annual dinner and award night, a media dispatch from the GCCI revealed.
According to the release, the objectives of the awards are to recognise and reward excellence in business performance, create room for competition among businesses, create an avenue for the business community to interact together, draw public attention to the role of the private sector, and to realise the innovation of entrepreneurship and enterprise in the private sector.
The event, it went on, demonstrates the Gambia Chambers of Commerce and Industry's commitment and contribution to the nation's development.
The funds realised from the dinner award would be used for the building of the GCCI’s Resource Centre and Business Incubation Centre.
Senegambia Beach Hotel would on 5th March, 2010 host the annual event, targeting the business community, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Gambian public and interested individuals.
The Small and Medium Enterprise, Public Enterprise, Management, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, IT service providers and telecommunications, manufacturing, construction and the energy industry agricultural enterprises and tourism industry are all expected to participate.
This year's award and dinner night is being sponsored by the following: Campagnie Sahelienne D'Enterprise (CSE), QCELL, AFRICELL, Arab Gambian Islamic Bank (AGIB), Zenith Bank and GamPetroleum.
The GCCI is partnering with the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA), Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC), Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and Galp Energia for the event.
Meanwhile, the President of GCCI, Mr. Bai Matarr Drammeh has called on the Gambian businesses and all stakeholders to make the best use of this golden opportunity. He also applauded the government for creating the much-needed environment for the private sector to operate.
