boys, Gamtel have now gotten to the top of GFF First Division League standing
after defeating Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) by a lone goal to nil in their
week-five fixtures of the country’s Premier League played at the Serekunda East
Park on Saturday.
Yaya
Ndong scored the only goal in stoppage time to give Gamtel the maximum point,
while leaving the Soldiers (GAF) and their supporters disappointed after the
final whistle.
Jim
Kebbeh, head coach of Gamtel expressed delights for the final result and the
performance of his players, noting that they have respected their game plan
which gave them the lead.
He
hailed their goal-scorer Yaya Ndong for being a competing striker, adding that
he can always make a difference whenever he is in the field, adding that they
have respected their opponent and patiently stick to their game plan.
Alieu
Jatta, GAF interim coach expressed disappointment for the final result, saying
they came with a system that doesn’t work for them.
He
added that his team lacked focus in the second period of the game which made
them to concede the late goal, adding that they will go back and work more on
their tactics ahead of their next encounter.
In
the other results on Sunday, Banjul United forced Real de Banjul to a goalless
draw in a game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium, while Brikama United
collected their first maximum point at home after defeating Hawks 2-1 in an
encounter played at the Brikama Box-Ba Mini-stadium
