The telecommunications boys Gamtel have booked their ticket to the 2010-11 Gambia Football Association (GFA) FA cup final following their 4-3 victory over West Coast Region giants Brikama United on post-match penalty shootout.
In what could be described as a pulsating semi-final encounter played at the Box Bar mini-Stadium in Brikama on Wednesday, Gamtel emerged winners after a penalty shootout.
The most fascinating and exciting game characterised by spectacular exhibition of skills and panache, attracted large crowd from Brikama and its environs.
Both sides launched series of assaults on each other’s goal mouth, but the first half failed to produce a goal.
Upon resumption, Gamtel rallied back and mounted heavy pressure on Brikama United and their struggle was finally rewarded with a 54th opener when Modou Njie Sarr scored from a superb finish.
Brikama United fought back and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities and as a result they levelled the score through central defender Modou Ndow in the dying minute of the game.
This pushed the game into post-match penalty shootout, which ended 4-3 in favour of Gamtel.
Gamtel will meet the winner between Hawks and Africell in the final slated for Sunday at the Serrekunda East mini-Stadium.
